North Wales Rd. Biographical InfoGuillermo Figueroa is Artistic Director of Guillermo Figueroa is Artistic Director of, an innovative organization that combines music with other art forms. He is the new Music Director and Conductor of the, and is also Music Director of the Music in the Mountains Festival in Durango, Colorado. Additionally, he was the former Music Director of both the New Mexico Symphony and the Puerto Rico Symphony. With this last orchestra he performed to critical acclaim at Carnegie Hall in 2003, the Kennedy Center in 2004 and Spain in 2005. His international appearances as a Guest Conductor include the Toronto Symphony, Iceland Symphony, the Baltic Philharmonic in Poland, Orquesta del Teatro Argentino in La Plata (Buenos Aires), Xalapa (Mexico), the Orquesta de Cordoba in Spain and the Orquesta Sinfonica de Chile. In the US he has appeared with the symphony orchestras of Detroit, New Jersey, Memphis, Phoenix, Colorado, Berkeley, Tucson, Santa Fe, Toledo, Fairfax, San Jose, Juilliard Orchestra and the New York City Ballet at Lincoln Center.

The families are local, and most of them have students participating in the Festival. The families provide meals and transportation.If I am staying with a HOST family, who do I pay the $150 room and board fee?Please, pay directly the host families the $150 room and board fee at the time of arrival. ArCoNet or Dali Festival DOES NOT collect this payment. Fellows/Faculty are waived from the $150 room and board.Where should I stay if I am from out of town under 16?If you are under 16, you may stay at a local hotel with you family, or find Airbnb. DQMF can not accommodate students under 16 with local host families.When do I need to be at the Festival?The first day of the Festival for students is FRIDAY JULY 26 th (the welcome meeting is at 9am)If I am traveling from out of town, where and when should I arrive?Please arrive by Thursday, July 25 th if you are travelling to North Wales, PA. If you are flying, please use Philadelphia International Airport. There are trains available from center city to North Wales provided by SEPTA. Both Saturdays are regular day festival days from 9am to 5pm. Please arrive every day by 8:30am to set up and tune. Festival Assistants have an earlier arrival and later dismissal depending on the days.Are there any classes or activities on Sundays?There are NO day classes at the NPCC on Sunday July 28 th or August 4 th.There is a FAMILY PICNIC on Sunday July 28 th at 11am at Peace Valley Park.There is ONE orchestra concert on Sunday Aug. This concert takes place at WEST CHESTER UNIVERSITY.
We will arrive there by 10am to rehearse.How do I know what to do every day at the Festival?All the students and faculty will receive a daily schedule each morning at 8-8:30am. All students should expect to have: Daily orchestra rehearsals, daily quartet coachings/rehearsals, a variety of workshops, lunch, string sectionals and theory/score reading. (Some activities may vary from day to day)What should I bring to the Festival every day?. Your instrument. A music stand (please label your stand). A pencil (please label). A metronome/tuner (optional, please label your metronome).
Orchestra and Chamber Music printed parts: All chamber/orchestra music in a 3-hole black binder (no loose parts please) PLEASE LABEL. Snacks and water. A packed lunch (except fellows, faculty and some assistants) There is NO microwave available. Please label your lunch boxes. ALL STUDENTS have a cubby in the Auditorium area where they will place all their belongings.What should I pack if I come from out of town/country?. Light summer clothes (temperatures between 85 and 95 degrees). Sport shoes (some days we may go to play sports at the park).
Bathing Suit (optional). Concert Clothes (specified below). Extra cash for fun activities (eating out, canoes, pool, mall). A $150 check to pay your host family (The Festival does not receive this payment; you pay the family directly)Do I have to pack a lunch?. YES!
All Local students need to pack lunches, water and snacks. Dali Fest staff will provide a pizza lunch on SATURDAY Aug. 3rd (NO NEED to pack lunch that day!!!)Who is being provided lunch during the Fest?. ONLY Faculty, Fellows, Staff and their childrenWhat about other meals?.
If you are staying with a host family and are paying $150, the family will provide all your meals (breakfast, packed lunch, dinner). If you are a FELLOW, you are waived from the $150 room and board. The family will still provide breakfast and dinner.
